Evaluation Question 4: How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?
A normal digital camera was used to take all of my test shots/I wanted to find out which angles were best and most effective. I also wanted to find out which lighting conditions were the best so I was prepared when it came to taking my actual photos.
Garageband was used to create the sound for our trailer, using different instruments to create different sound effects, such as drum beats for thuds and stings. I also used garageband for my sound tests so I could work out how to use it and whats sounds were effective.
I used Solvr to work out what were going to name our film. By making a mind map of different names and reasons why we can/can't use them it was really helpful to see which were most likely and then decide from there.
We used iMovie to edit all of the footage of the trailer. We added effects, sound, text and lots of different transitions. We made the trailer on iMovie, and also used the record function to add extra voic eovers and sound.
We used iPhoto to import all photos that I took for my magazine and poster, and we also used it to upload all of the footage that we filmed. This was really helpful as it transferred everything onto the iMac ready to be edited.
iShowU was really helpful throughout the process of making my media products. I was able to show my progress to the moderator through making pod casts and demonstrate my skills on different programs. I was also able to use it during my evaluation which was really useful, as I was able to use an interesting technology, rather than just writing an essay.
The Sony Mini DV camera was used to film all of the footage that we filmed for the trailer. With a good quality camcorder, it meant that the footage was of high quality, therefore the trailer looked more effective and more professional than it would if we were to just use a normal camera.
I used Photoshop to produce my film magazine and poster. This program was really helpful as it is meant that all of my work could be produced in one place. I could edit my photo, add text, change the colours, add effects use all the tools I wanted to make my products look effective.
I used Microsoft Powerpoint to create the pitch for my film so I could present it in an effective way. By using this program the pitch looked more professional, therefore made the idea look more appealing/
Prezi was really helpful when making my publication plan and presentation on my target audience. By creating a prezi it worked as a mindmap. I could refer back to this whenever I needed information to help me with my work as it document it in a quick and easy way.
Slideshare was a helpful technology as it allowed me to present my work in a more professional way than just writing an essay. It allowed me to upload slideshows onto my blog and made them easier to view.
The SLR camera was very important when making my magazine. By using a camera as a good as this, it meant that my photo was very clear and good quality, giving the magazine a more professional finish and a more effective look. I had experience on how to use an SLR from my AS work, therefore this was really easy.
Word it out allowed me to make decisions on certain things, such as the name of the production and distribution company logos. It created a mind map of words associated with the genre and the name of the film to help think of an effective name for the companies.
Evaluation Question 3: What have you learned from your audience feedback?
Audience feedback turned out to be a lot more helpful than I imagined it would be. It has played a huge part in making important decisions in the production of my work. Even making decisions from the start, such as what genre we were going to make the trailer shows how much of an impact audience feedback has had on my work and how much I have learned from it.
Social Networking Feedback:
As Facebook and Twitter have mostly people of my age group on, which is my target audience, I often posted drafts of my magazine and poster and asked them what they though, their feedback and what I needed to change/improve. I changed things such as the colour schemes, the photos. This feedback helped me decided my fonts and photos for my magazine.
Audience Interviews:
The audience interviews that I carried out were really helpful. I asked them what they would expect to see in a film magazine, what genre trailer they would rather watch. I asked what they think would be conventional as a horror film. The most important piece of information that we gathered was the genre of the film.
Questionnaires:
On a few occasions I have handed questionnaires out across college, which is mainly my target audience. Questions such as: Which colours do you think would look better on a film magazine, do you think we should a voice over or not on the trailer. Asking what people would like to see in a horror film really helped, as the genre was already decided, but we found out what the audience would want to see.
Feedback Within The Media Class:
As we were unable to decide which storyline we preferred before the production of the trailer, we pitched it to our tutor, who told us to use the second storyline. We were still unsure, so we wrote the pitches down, and handed it around the class for them to create a tally of which one they preferred. we found out that they would rather see the second one, which is the one we used, so this feedback was very important and very useful, as we could have picked the wrong one and it turn out awful.
Other feedback from the media class was when every few weeks we would show the trailer, then our own individual magazines and posters to the class. We received feedback sheets telling us what we should improve and what they thought was good. On one of these showings, we specifically asked for feedback on the sound for the trailer as we were struggling with it. We asked what they think would be effective, which is where we decided that we would put a sound running almost all of the way through it. This also helped me decide on my colour scheme for my magazine, as I made it black white and red and received lots of positive feedback about it, therefore showing it must have been effective.

Evaluation Question 2: How effective is the combination of your main products and ancillary tasks?
Vox Pops
This is my final piece of audience feedback, in which I asked my audience if they thought that my products worked well together and if they looked connected and from the same production. I was pleased with the feedback as they said that the do think they work well and look effective together, because of things like the colour schemes and the fonts that I have used. They also said that the genre of horror was conveyed well throughout all three.
