Research and Planning: Team Meeting Post

We are holding our casting auditions tomorrow, so my group and I have decided that the auditionees will perform a monologue of their choice. We hope our auditions will be successful as we have had a few people confirm that they will be coming.

We have also decided that we will complete our costumes and props list, which will be completed when the cast has been chosen, as we need costumes to suit each actor.

Research and Planning: Possible Locations

For the film trailer that our group will be making, we will need certain locations. These will be:

A school/college: We will use our college for this location. We need it for the school assembly, the classroom, and maybe other scenes, for example; when the friends are talking etc. The college will be an easy location and will look quite natural if there is people in the background.

A house: We will need to use someone's house for the scene when the friends are all in the bedroom playing video games etc. We will also need a shot of the outside of the house for the establishing shot, before it cuts to them in the bedroom. This won't be hard to achieve, as we can just use anyone's house.
Bedroom: We will need a bedroom for when the friends are all together playing video games etc.
The woods: We will need to woods for when the action begins and the friends are searching for the boy in the woods. We can use any woods so this is an easy and achievable location, like in the photo below.
A basement: We need to use a basement to show where the boy is being held captive.

Research and Planning: 2nd Film Poster Analysis

The genre of this film is straight away obvious when looking at this poster, the horror genre is shown by the knife being stuck into the woman's back, as it looks very gory with the blood and the way it sticks into her skin. Most of the colour on the poster is quite neutral and dull looking, showing that it's not a happy film, but then the boldness of the red blood and the red text stand out, indicating even more towards the genre as red is a colour associated with danger and horror.
The medium close up of the woman's back shows how she is being objectified as she is clearly naked, and part of her breast is visible, maybe making the film appeal slightly more to a male audience.
The white glove could suggest that the narrative is something to do with a doctor, and the knife looks like a surgical instrument which hints more towards it being something to with a doctor and hospital. The grey pattern on the woman's back also suggests that, as it looks like the inside of someone's body and that is also related to doctors and hospitals.
The mise-en-scene also shows that the film is horror as the props, being the glove and the knife, are quite scary with the blood and the way it is stuck in her.
The placement of the tag line "When what you fear becomes real" shows that it is important within the plot of the film as it is right in the middle on the subjects back. The tag line hints towards the narrative, which could show that someone is being haunted, as it is their fear that 'becomes real'.
The production company and cast and crew information is in the steel tongs font, showing that this is a film poster.
